engaGE schedule 2007
We had a great engaGE lunch meeting last Sunday (30/9) with (of course) good food and fellowship. We presented the engage-agenda for the next couple of months. We forgot to take a overview picture or even a picture of the food, but here’s a photo of Robyn and Sonar discussing opportunties for sponsoring!
We did a brainstorm on how we can serve in each area of our objectives:
- children first
- all are equal
- care for planet
- educate and train
- promote health
- heal disease
- poverty history
Furthermore we asked people to help us think how to receive more sponsoring.
Something truly special happened when one woman named Isabelle (not her real name) shared her story with us. Isabelle is the kind of person who walking around the streets of her home country would be automatically recognized, as she was a TV personality. When her country was plunged into war, all of her livelihood came crashing down. During EngaGE, we met Isabelle and her children. Of course, we didn’t know their stories then.
In the last weeks EngaGE rallied the troops of provision and goodness to provide household items for Isabelle and her children who are now able to move out of the shelter and into an apartment. We collected all sorts of things and delivered them.
It was special to know Isabelle and her children by name and to be able to learn from them. Bono would say: this is not charity…
Thanks for participating with us.
